Jen van der Vecht is blessed with the ability to capture her subjects in a way that is both subtle and yet, compelling.  Whether it be a moment of tenderness, an off chance glance or a spontaneous giggle, she is able to catch and record emotions with clarity in a manner that seems effortless. 

She begun her career in 1985 as a fashion model in the New York  Modeling Industry. In time, her ability to see talent landed her a position as an International Model Scout.  While working with top industry photographers and overseeing development of her client's portfolios, she developed an eye for knowing instinctively when a photograph was "just right".  It was during this time that she became interested in photography herself. 

After attending courses at Ryerson University, she began photographing professionally. Currently serving the Greater Toronto area, Jen specializes in candid portraits of children and families.  Due to demand from clientele, Jen began photographing boudoir, engagements and weddings. She calls her style,  "Documentary with a romantic eye".

Jen has quickly become one of York Region's foremost portraiture photographers.  She has developed a strong reputation for being both professional yet down to earth.  A photo session with Jen is casual and fun and her work, beautiful.
